Lakes ground Jets; L’Anse racks up runs

LAKE LINDEN – Sarah Audette recorded 11 strikeouts as Lake Linden-Hubbell rolled to a 19-5 win over Jeffers in their home opener at the Boneyard Monday.

She allowed just one hit and one earned run and went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Four other Lakes had at least two hits apiece, including Kyleigh Audette, Erin Gast, Ciara Larson and Jana Hendrickson. Larson and Taylor Shepeard both drove in four runs.

For the Jets, playing their first game, Eden Klemett drove in two runs. Katri Rajala drew three walks.

In Aura, L’Anse swept a home doubleheader from Hancock 20-8 (six innings) and 15-5 (five innings).

In the opener, McKenzie Brunet hit an inside-the-park home run for the Bulldogs.

Heather Huffmaster led the Hancock offense in the nightcap with a single, double and triple.

Carolyn Parker was Hancock’s pitcher of record in both games, with three strikeouts and three walks in game one.

In game one, she had one strikeout before Sara Puuri relieved, and fanned two.
