Finlandia catcher Lawley named to All-Region team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Finlandia senior catcher Alexis Lawley was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Central Region First Team recently.

Lawley, from Pell City, Ala., led all Division III players with a .574 batting average. Her .624 on-base percentage was third nationally and her .970 slugging was eighth nationally. She finished the season with nine home runs and 27 RBIs.

“We are so excited for Alexis,” Finlandia coach Brittany Williams said. “All of her hard work and dedication this year has paid off. She is incredibly deserving of this honor.”

Lawley was also named 2014 Great South Athletic Conference softball player of the year, to the GSAC All-Conference Team and Finlandia Athlete of the Year.

All-Region teams are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of eight regions. Lawley and other first-team all-region choices can be selected to the NFCA All-American team, to be revealed May 21.
