Calumet girls’ hoops coach Hill resigns

CALUMET – The Board of Education of the Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium and Keweenaw accepted the resignation of Don Hill as the Calumet High School varsity girls’ basketball coach at its monthly meeting Tuesday.

Hill resigns after his sixth season running the program, and third with 15 wins. The Copper Kings went 15-7 last season and finished in a tie for third in the WestPAC. Calumet, which had no seniors on its roster, reached its second district final in Hill’s tenure, losing a closely contested game to host L’Anse.

Hill’s career record with the Copper Kings is 76-52.

Athletic director Sean Jacques said a search for Hill’s replacement will begin soon.
