Margaret Ralph

CHARLEVOIX, Michigan – Long time Houghton resident, Margaret Ralph died peacefully at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix, Michigan, on December 2, 2013.

Margaret was born in Hancock in 1919 to John and Frances Ralph, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased in death by her brother, Wilbert Ralph; and her sister, Helen Ledahl.

Following her college years, she returned to Houghton, where she was part of the administrative staff of Michigan Technological University for over forty years. Upon the death of her father, Margaret cared for her mother until her mother’s death in 1964. After she retired from MTU, she moved to Petoskey, Michigan, to be closer to her nephew and niece.

Margaret is survived by her nephew, James Ledahl, and his wife, Inge; a grand nephew, Brian Ledahl; and two grand nieces, Sheril Fritz and Ginger Smith.

Margaret was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church, and a life member of Trillium Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. After moving to Petoskey she became a member of the Petoskey United Methodist Church. Margaret lived a good life. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed and long remembered by her family and her many friends in Houghton and Petoskey.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, May 20 in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

The Reverend Chuck Williams from Grace United Methodist Church will officiate.

Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey has been assisting the family.
