Rough home opener for Hancock Legion

HANCOCK?-The Marquette Blues spoiled the first games of the season at Hancock Driving Park for the host Post 186 squad Saturday, winning both outings by scores of 14-2 and 7-1.

Hancock was outhit 13-6 in the opener and struggled to contain the top of the Marquette batting order, which combined for eight hits and three walks in the shortened (five innings)?game.

Gabe Rupright took the loss for Hancock, which got its runs on a Coy Budweg RBI?fielder’s choice in the fourth and Carter Puuri’s RBI?single in the fifth.

Puuri had a pair of hits for Hancock in the conest.

In game two, Marquette’s four-run first inning was more than enough, as Blues pitching held Hancock to six hits.

Dax Durocher’s homer to lead off the fourth was Hancock’s lone run.

Jared Peryam took the loss, going 4 1/3 innings.
