Polakowski, Gremlins lead Ontonagon field
ONTONAGON – A 42 from Noelle Polakowski of Houghton was the best score of the day at the rescheduled Ontonagon Invitational girls’ golf meet Monday.
The Gremlin senior’s effort was four shots better than L’Anse’s Alyssa Norback.
Adison Cook of Houghton was the only other golfer to break 50, which she did with a 48.
Teammates Taryn Kaurala and Lindsey Sandell came close with 53s to ensure Houghton rolled to victory in team competition with a 196.
L’Anse (237) was second, followed by Ontonagon (242) and Jeffers (242).
Bailee Aho paced the Gladiators with a 58, while Jeffers’ best score came from Cora Rajala, a 60.
All the local teams are scheduled to play Portage Lake Golf Course today in the Jack Sandretto Invitational hosted by Houghton.
