Brian L. Rothenberger

LIMINGA – Brian L. Rothenberger, 58, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2014, at his home in Liminga, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Brian was born on May 1, 1956, in Virginia, Minnesota, to the late Gottfried and Martha E. (Kemppainen) Rothenberger. When Brian was a boy, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he spent most of his early childhood before relocating to Klingville Road, Chassell.

Brian graduated from Chassell High School in 1974. He worked as a welder, bartender and later managed Bri’s Cafe, before beginning his career with Copper Country Mental Health in 1985. Brian was united in marriage with, his soul mate, Margaret (Kinnunen) Rothenberger on December 30, 1992.

Brian enjoyed spending time with his co-workers and consumers at Rice House. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hearing his wife laugh and creating a wonderland of “themed” trails on the property behind his home for his children and grandchildren to enjoy.

Brian is survived by his wife of 22 years, Margaret Rothenberger of Liminga; as well as six sons and one daughter, Travis Rothenberger of Baraga, Niles Rothenberger of Chassell, Paden (Amber) Rothenberger of Chassell, Shanna (Frank) Cherubini of Chassell, Kyle Harsh of Hancock, Christopher Harsh of Tamarack City, Jason (Jodie) Harsh of Prescott Valley, Arizona; as well as eight and a half grandchildren, Zachary, McKayla, Archer, Bryson, Orion, McKenzie, Annalie, Michael, and soon to be baby, Emma. Also surviving Brian are his siblings, Randy (Theresa) Rothenberger of Racine, Wisconsin, Dana Rothenberger of Chassell, Renee (Rick) Forsell of Chassell and Mike Rothenberger of L’Anse; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A memorial service for Brian will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Houghton with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 12 until time of services at the church.
