Kilpela finishes first at Breakers to Bay
OSKAR – Jonathan Kilpela was first to the finish line in the sixth annual Breakers to Bay 5-mile cross country race.
Kilpela completed the course in 29:18.
“I have always enjoyed racing Breakers to Bay as a fun start to the summer road racing season. As a long term substitute at Stanton, it was great to be able to support the school, my students, and colleagues,” Kilpela said.
Amy Janeshek was the top female finisher and second-place overall runner in 32:28.
Bob Richards crossed the line first among walkers, in 58:33.
About 180 participants turned out. The event benefitted the Stanton Township School for the first time. The first five races supported renovations to the KennerDome facility in Oskar. Proceeds from the 2014 event will jumpstart a wellness program at the school and community events for students and local residents.
