Library book sale successful

To the editor:

The Friends of the van Pelt Library (FVPL) hosted their annual media and book sale on April 1st and 2nd, and raised over $3,400 to support special projects in the Library. Many thanks to the members of our community who attended the sale and purchased books! The sale is not possible without the support of the campus and local community, and the FVPL would like to thank the following organizations for their support of this year’s sale:

Facilities Management at Michigan Tech (moving books)

Make a Difference Day Student Volunteers (sorting, set up and take down)

Society of Intellectual Sisters (cashiers)

Omega Chi Epsilon (set-up)

Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society (set-up, take down)

Circle K International Service Organization (set-up, take down)

Graduate Student Government (set-up, take down)

Society of African American Men (SAAM) (cashier)

Pre-Health Association at Tech (PHAT)/Medlife (take down)

Kashmir’s volunteers (take down)

Student volunteers (set-up, cashier, take down)

Van Pelt and Opie Library Staff (accepting donations)

Board of Directors of the Friends (everything else)

The Friends accept donations of books, tapes, and DVDs for the sale year-round. Donate your books to the FVPL book sale by dropping them off in the Library vestibule or at the back door loading dock (call ahead at 487-2500 to let the Library know). If your donation needs to be picked up, contact Dana Richter at 487-2149 or at dlrichte@mtu.edu .

Next year’s book sale will be held April 8, 2015, with a pre-sale for Friends on April 7th. To learn more about the Friends, the projects their efforts support, or to become a member, visit their web site:
