Gary “Snapper” Kappler
AHMEEK – Gary “Snapper” Kappler, a resident of Ahmeek, passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident on June 5, 2014.
He was born on September 19, 1949, in Laurium, to John and Claire (Mongeau) Kappler.
Gary attended the local schools, and received his diploma.
Gary was a member of the Army and served in the Vietnam War.
With an honorable discharge from the Army Gary worked in the construction business. Gary loved riding his Harley. It was his pride and joy.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, John and Claire; brothers, Ronald and John; sister, Sandra; and his special friend, Diane Palosaari.
Surviving are daughter, Susanna Harju of Suttons Bay, Michigan; grandchildren, Jordon and Hailey; brother, Fred Kappler of Bootjack; sister, Linda Dodenhoff of New York; and his two dogs, Harley and Daisey.
Family and friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with Father Francis Dobrzenski.
The Copper Country Veterans Association will hold military rites during the graveside service.
Burial will take place in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
