Doubleheader wins for North Pointe, Auto Value

HOUGHTON – North Pointe Trucking scored nine times in the eighth inning to take the lead, then held on for a 17-15 Copper Country men’s slowpitch win over Erickson Crowley Peterson Wednesday night.

Four players for the winners had four-hit games: Kent Larson, Craig Kilpela, Brent Jurmu and Phil Helminen. Kyle Kilpela added three.

For Erickson Crowley Peterson, Jason Van Straten and Erik Nettell homered. Bill Boever, Matt Turunen and Van Straten had three-hit games.

North Pointe got the doubleheader sweep by taking down Coca-Cola/Miller’s Recreation 15-9. Kyle Kilpela, Larson, Kurt Aho, Craig Kilpela and Brent Jurmu all had three hits.

Auto Value got a balanced attack in a 18-3 win over The Marley Bar. Nine players had multi-hit games, with Miiko Kurstu, Shawn MacDonald, Nate McMullen and James Loukus among those with three.

Auto Value also swept a doubleheader, edging Nutini’s 18-17. James Loukus homered as part of a four-hit game and three others had three hits apiece.

Post 90/Lakes Lounge dumped Osmose 24-8. Both Dennis Dobes and Joe Rivest went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles for the winners, while Bobby LaRoux was 4-for-5 with three doubles. Jason Sedar had three hits, including a triple, and Jason Wilks had three hits, including a double.

Pat’s Foods/ ThermoAnalytics defeated 906 Enterprises/ Pilgrim River Steakhouse 22-6.

Henry Baron went 4-for-4 with a homer and a double. Logan Rastello had a double and a triple in his three-hit night.
