CSC suspect arraigned

HOUGHTON – An Ahmeek teen was arraigned on first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges in 97th District Court in Houghton Monday.

Cody Spagnotti, 18, is accused of committing sexual assault in April. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.

According to the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrested Spagnotti at 8 p.m. Saturday. He was lodged in the Keweenaw County Jail in Eagle River pending his arraignment.

He was transported to the Houghton County Courthouse for his district court arraignment Monday.

Spagnotti’s bail was set at $1 million. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 3.

He was returned to the Keweenaw County Jail following arraignment and remains lodged there in lieu of bail.
