Rose Marie Grandchamp

HANCOCK – Rose Marie Grandchamp, 84, of 1028 Minnesota Street in Hancock, passed away on June 25, 2014 at Mill Creek Assisted Living in Marquette, where she had resided for the past year.

She was born on December 22, 1929 in Hancock, a daughter of Louis and Theresa (Kelly) Misen. She was raised in Dodgeville and graduated from Houghton High School in 1948. She worked as a retail clerk at F.W. Woolworth’s for 10 years and at West Side Pharmacy in Houghton for 10 years. She later worked as the elementary schools secretary for Hancock Public Schools, retiring in June of 1989.

She was married to Frederick “Fritz” Grandchamp on July 29, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Atlantic Mine. He passed away on May 21, 2013.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. She enjoyed crafts and fishing with Fritz. She went on many bus tours with her husband and spent a lot of time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Theresa Carlson.

She is survived by her son, Fred (Robbie) Grandchamp of Marquette; a grandson, Stephen (Kirsten) Grandchamp of Lansing; a brother-in-law, Gerald Carlson of Hancock; and by many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, in The Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Rev. Fr. Corbin Eddy to officiate.

Visitation will be in the Mount Carmel Room at the Church of the Resurrection from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of arrangements.
