PLGC juniors take aim in tournament play
HOUGHTON – Portage Lake Golf Course recently hosted a junior tournament with winner crowned in six divisions.
In the girls’ 17-and-under division, Adison Cook of Houghton shot 94, six better than Lyndsay Sandell, also of Houghton.
The boys’ 17-U winner was Houghton’s Gunnar Stein, whose 77 was three shots better than Austin Mikesch of Green Bay.
Tyler Bergwall of Marquette shot 88 to win the boys’ 14-U division, with Trevor Tchida of Hancock six back and Tyler Johnson four behind him.
Colin Bjorne of Ishpeming ran away with the boys’ 12-U title, shooting 46 for nine holes. Kyle Maki of Hancock was second with a 57 and Trent Ledgerwood of Chassell shot 58.
Tyson Markham of Chassell blazed to a 31 over seven holes and finished first in the 10-U class. Dylan Dube of Hancock was second. Mika Jalkanen of Houghton and Miles Brown of Calumet tied for third.
The 8-U winner was Carter Kilpela of Hancock, followed by Jackson Sintkowski of Hancock and Marino Pisani of Houghton.
