Pauline Emelia Lassila
ALAMEDA, California – Pauline Emelia Lassila, 91, passed away June 25, 2014, at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, California, near where she lived with her daughter’s family for the past five years.
She was born August 14, 1923, to John Stoor and Amanda (Hoyer) Stoor in Dollar Bay and attended Dollar Bay School and Suomi College.

She grew and preserved most of the family’s produce and prided herself on her thriftiness and homesteading self-sufficiency. She was a lover of animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leo (Ada) Stoor, Alf (Lois) Stoor, Ralph Stoor; a baby sister, Elizabeth; and her husband, Bob Lassila.
Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Heidi Lassila Larsen; son in law, Robert Larsen; and grandson, Christopher Larsen of Alameda, California; a niece, Jane Culley of Beaufort, South Carolina; and a nephew, Gordon Stoor of Tallahassee, Florida.
Her cremains will be interred in the Stoor family plot in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
No memorial is planned at this time.
She requested anyone wishing to make donations on her behalf contribute to the Copper Country Humane Society.
