Robert “Bob” H. Mount
HOUGHTON – Robert “Bob” H. Mount, 86, of Houghton, passed away at home during the early morning hours of July 2, 2014.
Bob was the only child of Carroll H. Mount and Olga (Erickson) Mount and was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 17, 1927. He had many happy childhood memories.
He served in the army towards the end of World War II and attended Ohio Wesleyan University, Ohio State University, the University of Texas, and Michigan Technological University.
Bob married Margaret “Peggy” Nora of Iron River in 1954.
He worked for Cleveland Cliffs (as a geologist) and then for Michigan Technological University. He retired in 2000 after spending several decades teaching physics at Michigan Tech.
Bob especially enjoyed animals, music, sports, and being up to the minute on the weather forecast!
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and his infant son, Allen.
Bob is survived by his children, Becky, Nancy, Rob, and Jeff (Elyssa); and his grandchildren, Rachel and Gabe. He is also survived by his pets Peppy, Kitsalee, Linky, and Mama (his devoted and adoring lap cat).
Instead of flowers, Bob’s family suggests donations to the Copper Country Humane Society, P.O. Box 453, Houghton, MI 49931 or another charity.
As requested, the body will be cremated and no public visitation or service will be held.
O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
