Aspirus projects are commitment to the region

Less than a month after its ribbon cutting on the new Houghton Clinic, Aspirus Keweenaw is at it again, breaking ground on a major expansion to the Laurium facilitiy. This latest project will include new hospital and patient rooms, a new emergency room, new intensive care unit and new surgical suites.

The project is the latest expansion of services by Aspirus in the Copper Country, an expansion that includes the new Houghton Facility, and a rehabilitation clinic in Houghton all in the past few years.

While Aspirus maintains the new and expanded facilities are intended to better serve the people of the Keweenaw, we cannot help but look at the economic impact these facilities have on the region.

In addition to the new jobs that will be created both during the construction and afterward, the economy of the area will be impacted by Aspirus patients from outside the region, attracted by new facilities and new services.

We congratulate Aspirus Keween on yet another exciting journey. We look forward to the completion of this project and to whatever new endeavor may come their way.
