BlueSky outlasts Stanton in 10 innings
DOLLAR BAY – BlueSky Health extended its lead atop the Twilight League standings but only after a 10-inning marathon it won 9-8 over Stanton.
Brian Juopperi’s sacrifice fly scored Owen Kariniemi for the walk-off win, while pitcher Ray Wojtala went the distance for the win.
Brady Turner was 3-for-6 for the victors, while Juopperi and Jason Koski both homered. Brent Jurmu, Dan Juopperi, Wojtala and Brian Juopperi all had two hits for BlueSky (8-4), which leads by two games in the win column over Mosquito Inn-Toivola, which now has two games in hand after being idle Tuesday.
Stanton falls to 5-6 on the season.
Wolverine-Orbit pulled to .500 after a 9-5 home win over Pat’s Foods, finally putting the visitors away with a three-run sixth.
Josh Gomez earned the win, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He struck out three and walked six.
Wolverine (5-5) got two hits from Ian Wienke, Beau Dupuis, Mike Saari and Darren Bausano. Saari drove in three runs.
For Pat’s Foods (3-8), Chris Nielsen had a pair of hits, including an RBI double. Lee Naugle hit a two-run homer. Ross Kinnunen took the loss.
