Division B of slowpitch league ends up tied
HOUGHTON – Post 90/Lakes Lounge finished tied with Bucko’s/Labatt’s atop the Copper Country men’s slowpitch league Division B standings after the last night of the regular season.
Post 90/Lakes Lounge beat Bucko’s/Labatt’s 18-17 with help from a seven-run ninth inning, Bucko’s/Labatt’s then defeated Osmose, putting both teams at 11-5 overall.
In the early game, Joel Michaelson and Dennis Dobes had four hits for the winners. Bobby LaRoux and Jason Sedar added three.
For Bucko’s/Labatt’s, Charlie Kemppainen was 4-for-4. Steve Dunstan, Jordan Johnson and Aron Butkovich each had three hits.
In the nightcap, Johnson hit for the cycle and went 4-for-4. Butkovich had four hits, just with two doubles in lieu of a cycle of his own. Dunstan, Matt King, Brad Anderson, Jack Benson and Kevin Tormala all had three-hit games, with Anderson homering twice.
A 5-for-5 day from Jason Van Straten helped Erickson Crowley Peterson win 24-19 over The Goal Post in its regular season finale of the Copper Country men’s slowpitch league.
Van Straten had one of his team’s three homers in addition to a double.
Matt Turunen, Josh Turunen and Jeff Miller kicked in three hits apiece.
Auto Value downed 906 Enterprises/Pilgrim River Steakhouse 22-7. Matt Kilpela, James Loukus and Alex Loukus were all 4-for-5 and missing one quarter of the cycle: Kilpela and Alex Loukus a homer, James Loukus a single.
Stewart Krumm posted a pair of doubles in his three hits. Jake Loukus and Mark Mezydlo also added three hits for the winners.
