BlueSky blows away Twilight competition
DOLLAR BAY – BlueSky Health claimed the Copper Country Twilight League regular season title Tuesday night for the second year in a row, seizing the crown with a thrilling last at-bat win over Mosquito Inn (Toivola).
After Mosquito Inn took a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh, BlueSky rallied with a three-run seventh, capped by No. 9 hitter Brent Jurmu’s title winning sacrifice fly.
The comeback was nicely emulative of BlueSky’s season, after the Dollar Bay team started the year 1-4, they have won nine in a row since, going perfect in the month of July.
BlueSky has been excellent in close games during the stretch, winning five of the nine by two runs or less.
Tuesday’s victory moved BlueSky to 11-4 on the season, with one week left to play. Wolverine-Orbit sits in second place with an 8-6 mark and two games to play, after an 11-5 win over Stanton Tuesday.
Offense came from up and down the lineup for BlueSky, with Dan Juopperi hitting safely three time, Ray Wojtola and Jason Koski connecting twice and the team managing 10 total hits and six walks.
BlueSky won the Twilight League last year with a 10-6 mark – tying Stanton in the regular season – before beating Stanton in the playoff final as well.
