Fishing tourney was a success

To the editor:

The Copper Country Walleye Association hosted their third annual, Lund Angler and Young Angler Tournament on Saturday July 25th on Portage and Torch Lakes. We had a successful tournament this year with 15 teams and 26 youth anglers despite some unpleasant weather with early day rain and thunder then high winds in the afternoon. We have continued to draw youth anglers to this professional-style tournament from a broad area with participants this year coming from 4 different states and as far away as South Carolina.

We would like to thank all of our volunteers and generous sponsors who provided us with overwhelming support this year and who made the event possible. This year’s sponsors included: Statewide Real Estate of Houghton, Iron Mountain/Houghton Power Sports, Chassell VFW Post Men’s and Women’s Auxiliary, Portage Health, Coca Cola of Hancock, Aspirus Keweenaw, Copper Country Ford, Kissell Chevrolet, RJ Lures, Ameriprise Financial Advisors – Jim LaBeske and Buster Roberts, River Valley Bank, Thrivent Financial Advisors – Ross Rinkinen, McGann Building Supply, Rukula, Negro, and Associates, IR Telemetrics, Rudy’s Spice, Kirkish Furniture, Chassell Carpentry and Woodwork, Festival Foods, Townsend Refrigeration, Edward Jones Financial Advisors – Brent Peterson, and Joeys Seafood.
