Fire destroys home in Ontonagon

ONTONAGON – The resident of an Ontonagon house that was destroyed by fire overnight has not been found, and authorities this morning aren’t sure whether anyone was in the house when it burned.

According to a release from the Ontonagon Sheriff’s Department, deputies and the Ontonagon Village Fire Department were dispatched to the blaze at 426 Minnesota Ave. at 1:23 a.m. The release says there were also reports of multiple explosions inside the home that were not natural gas related. All nearby homes were evacuated.

The Fire Marshal is expected to arrive this morning to investigate.
