Festa Italiana was successful

To the editor:

Thank you for the great coverage for Festa Italiana.

I would like to put a thank you note in the paper for whenever it can be published.

“Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, entertainers, vendors and visitors who made the inaugural Copper Country Festa Italiana a great success.

The Bocce Tournament was a battle of seven teams with the Monte winning the championship. The “Italian Trivia” contest was won by Jill Auger, “Guess the Number of Rigatoni” by David Gemignani, “Name That Pasta” by Mollie Wagner; the “Spaghetti Eating Contest” by Bryan and the “Grape Stomp” ended in a tie with Amy Wilmers and Vanessa Dulong making the most grape juice. Only David Rickard attempted the “Pizza Toss” and he was a master.

The prop and scene area was a source of many great photos that are shared on our Facebook page.

The entertainment was widely varied starting with a spectacular version of the National Anthem sung by Annette Butina. A few of the kids from PJ Olsson’s Rock Camp demonstrated their talent. We heard everything from polka and crooning, to arias and rock and roll.

The vendors had delicious foods and were so popular, they were sold out before the supper hour.

The volunteers put many long hours into preparation and working diligently before, during and after the event. I send a special thank you to each and every one of you.

Thank you for Marc Geberkoff, our sound engineer for working so well with our many performers.

The turnout far exceeded our expectations of 300 to 500 people. We learned a lot of lessons and will make improvements for our next annual event. Thank you to all who made it such a success.
